Reflexology. You may have heard the term but might have no idea what it is and how it might serve both your mental and physical health. It is a wellness modality offered right here at our Scarborough Wellness Facility, the largest and most celebrated wellness center in all New England!

Reflexology is a therapy focused on the hands and feet where pressure and small manipulations are used in very specific points that correlate to other areas of the body. This is a great modality to utilize if you are sensitive to full body massage or have discomfort that traditional therapies couldn’t treat. Reflexology is a great relaxation tool and steppingstone for more optimal health.

Reflexology is a wonderful powerful therapy that shows each body part is connected to the foot. Gentle stimulation with massage will do so much and is powerfully healing on the body. It will detoxify, reset, and restore your body to homeostasis using the power of essential oils and the power of reflexology. The goal is to help restore your body physically, emotionally, and spiritually, to its natural, balanced homeostasis.

Reflexology is a therapeutic practice that involves applying pressure to specific areas on the feet. There are many benefits to finding recovery through the feet. Primarily, Vagus nerve is connected to the foot and will be worked on during the reflexology session. The Vagus nerve connects the mind to the body. It is also responsible for moving the body into a parasympathetic, rest, digest, and repair state. It is during this time that the body heals itself. One of the most common reasons that people struggle to heal is because they do not spend enough time in a state of rest and repair. So, what happens, their body breaks down faster than it will repair itself. Spending too much time in this state results in poor Vagus nerve tone. And the nerve starts to misfire and malfunction, making it difficult to get back into rest and repair. By stimulating the Vagus nerve, it is expected to improve its function which results in a massive increase in one’s resilience and ability to quickly recover from stress. If you are not doing some type of vagus nerve stimulation, you are missing an incredible healing potential of the body.

Reflexologists are therapists with a caring heart and healing hands. Reflexology helps improve circulation, reduce stress and anxiety, stimulate the lymphatic system, and helps achieve balance in the body curated for targeted health goals.
